Solo op. 2

“Solo” is a piece for solo flute. There are also two trascripted versions, one for solo saxophone and the other for solo clarinet.

This piece is an hommage to Igor Stravinsky and Paul Hindemith’s styles. The Hindemith intervals’s theory was a source of inspiration for this work, as well as “The Rite of Spring” by Stravinsky.

The main theme opens with a minor sexth, a tribute to Wagner “Tristan und Isolde” iconic first interval’s prelude.

Fun fact: Claude Debussy has made a quote of Wagner “Tristan und Isolde” prelude opening in “Golliwogg’s Cakewalk” from “Children’s corner”. As you can see, the French composer has done it with a “slightly” different character than the original…
