Teaching

Carlo Rossi teaching

Qualified teacher for “General Music” for the Italian middle school

Teaching for me means being able to bring all the students to their highest level of personal expression, according to their inclinations and talents. Every human being has a different and personal way of approaching the study of music and that’s why
my teaching method is tailored differently to each pupil. Since it is based on a flexible and multi-purpose approach, my method is intuitive, effective, and fun.

The study of the instrument will go hand by hand with the study of music theory, solfège and harmony. It will allow the students to learn faster comprehending at the same time the relationships between the different elements of the musical practise.

Improvisation will also be approached right away. This will enable pupils to develop their independence in improvising and creating music immediately, without becoming dependent on music stands like so many musicians do nowadays.

My approaches are based on a mix of different pedagogical techniques (Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze and Bassi methods, just to name a few) that allow an introduction to music for all ages, from 0 to 99. The study of rhythm, intonation and ear training will take place not only with the instrument, but also through body movements, singing, and the use of small percussions.

A special focus will be placed on keeping a correct posture during instrumental playing by the students. The aim is avoiding the development of unnecessary muscular tension that could affect proper performances.

Currently, I collaborate with Cultuurhuis Planck as a saxophone teacher for elementary schools in the Katwijk area, and with Nieuw Vocaal Amsterdam as a choir teacher for elementary schools in the Amsterdam-Zuidoost area. I also teach saxophone to students of all levels at the E25 music school in ‘s-Gravenzande.
